 It isn't tough to sell $1000. worth of insurance. Jylissa sold $1341 just on friday. I hope everyone read the blog on thursday about the man who died in Mexico. No one wants to feel like they could of done more for a client or feel they should of been more insistent on insurance especially if they ever receive a call from a family member like I did last week. Selling insurance is very profitable but more so it protects your clients travel investment and provides the very best medical care available. We will continue with an insurance incentive for Jan., Feb., and Mar. at $100. for 1st, $50. for 2nd and $25. for 3rd. Remember the incentive for Skylink next month 1st $200. 2nd $100. and  3rd $50. on your imagine card for highest skylink sales. We are also giving away a $1000. travel voucher to a lucky client for any sale made in January. Agents and staff are not included but any of your clients will be entered for travel sales in January. If they buy insurance they are entered again. Children under 18 will not receive this but it will be awarded to the parent  who purchased the trip.

BIG INSURANCE HEADACHE!!!

 On monday we had a call from a client who returned from Mexico friday. His father was offered insurance but declined. Last tuesday he went to a clinic at destination after hurting his thigh. After spending a total of $4000. over the next 2 days at this clinic the family was out of money. Needing more treatment they had the sunwing rep talk to the clinic who then agreed to do more services. Before his flight home he received a pain shot but died before he went to the airport. The son was trying to tell us we were to process his insurance but the father declined insurance in the office.

Lesson learned here:

1) RBC medical would have ensured good medical treatment and the client would not wait on a serious medical condition because it was too expensive to treat. This man is almost certainly dead because he wanted to save $35.

2) With Deluxe insurance not only would he have proper medical coverage but repatriation of the body ( returning the body to Canada)would be covered. On monday they didn't know how they were going to get the body home. This has cost someone $25,000. in the past from Mexico

3) If someone refuses insurance make sure you have proof. As in this case the client's son was trying to say we were to blame.

4) Remember to sell insurance with every package or flight.

To pick up documents you do not have to sign in to the site. Just go to www.transatholidays.com and click e docs on the top right. No need to sign in. Enter the booking number, name and travel date. This is the same for sunwing/signature, and westjetvacations. documents aren't available until 28 days prior to departure, however Westjet is available right after booking is made. One problem with westjet is that everytime you do a price guarantee ( multiple refunds for price drops up to 21 days prior departure if the drop is more than $25.) you must send new tickets.

Another Option in Jamaica

Hi everyone,
I came across a pretty cool option for clients that are looking for
something kind of different or have already been to JA and are quite
comfortable. We have the option of renting houses that are from 1-7
bedrooms. All in different locations. So be sure to read where the location
is and what is included. The site has all the information you should
require. We make 10%commission on these homes and as agents save the
commission as our deal. Some of the properties are ocean front, others have
their own pools. So take a peek and get an idea for what is there to sell.

Montego Bay - There are 5 properties in Mobay that have "membership to a
hotel" as such so they are able to go on property for dining at the
restaurants, beach bars, cafes, and welcome to go watch the evening
entertainment. Gives the client access, yet privacy. The properties we have
memberships to are the Tyrall Resort, Round Hill and Half Moon. Much to do
in Mobay for your clients on the hipstrip, food, shops and Margarita Ville,
clubs, Casino's....The restaurants are safe to eat at. There are catamaran
cruises at Conrwall beach called Dreamer Catamarans.

What is the difference between a villa, apartment/condo and cottage resort?

A villa is a free-standing private home that is made available for rent to
vacation travellers. Private villas range from 1-8 bedrooms in size and
offer additional living space such as living rooms, dining areas, patios or
verandas. Some also have dens or recreation rooms. Almost all private villas
have their own private pool and full staff.

Apartments and condos range from studios to 3 bedroom units and are
generally found within small complexes with shared pool facilities. Most
apartments and condos offer fully equipped kitchen facilities or
kitchenettes for guests to do their own cooking. All apartment/condo units
offer daily maid service and some offer additional cook service.
Cottage resorts vary in style – some offer free-standing individual
cottages, while others offer different accommodation-types housed within one
building.

Sandals and Beaches

  Yesterday I spent the whole day and night in the Toronto conference center at the Sandals convention. I can't go over everything but I will share some key points:

Weddings

They have just launched a new site for weddings. Clients can customize their wedding. Once you have registered your clients wedding you will receive 10% commission on anything they buy. Some clients spend up to $40,000. on destination weddings. That is an extra $4000. in commission. Like any other hotel chain destination weddings are a big part of their business and Sandals/Beaches do it right.

Groups

There are all kinds of potential groups and here are a few suggestions on how to obtain them. Since all groups have a tour conductor (free seat) for every 10th, 16th, or 20th passenger offer it to the group leader, business owner or manager who will help you build a group with their organization or business.

Dive groups

With Sandals offering unlimited free dives to certified divers this is a great potential group. Go out to your local dive shop and get started. When should you do this? Right away! People need suggestions and divers dream about exotic locals more than we dream about exotic beaches.

Golf groups

Same thing here. Do you golf? If so get to your favorite golf courses and get this started. When are you going to do this? Right away!

Fireman discounts

Sandals and Beaches offer a discount to firefighters. When firefighters aren't fighting fires they love to talk to strangers especially ladies. So when are you going to your local fire Hall?

 

Why do we want to sell Sandals and Beaches?

1) Sandals resorts are not cheap therefore we receive more commission per sale. An easy way to sell a Sandals resort over others is easy. There is just so much more included. When selling Sandals and Beaches ask your client what they spend money on at destination? Much of what they spend could be included therefore saving them money.

2) NO Tipping. Many resorts you receive slow or no service if you do not tip. At all Sandals but Cuba you are not allowed to tip and they will loose their job if they take a tip. (You can tip the butlers)

3) Watersports are second to none. I have been to so many resorts and the vast majority are the same. Snorkelling equipment, wind surfers, kayaks, aquatrikes, and the basic stuff. All Sandals resorts have those plus stand up paddle boards, premium Mastercraft waterskiing boats,glass bottom boat tours, and much more.

4 Diving with state of the art Newton dive boats. Sandals can teach you to dive. They have PADI certified instructors and certify over 10,000 divers each year. Potential divers can do a short written course prior to arrival. Sandals and Beaches offer some of the most exciting dive sites in the caribbean including coral reefs, undersea canyons and wrecks.

5) For me the best part of a Sandals or Beaches vacation is the food. How many resorts have up to 16 restaurants? Sandals and Beaches have some of the best restaurants at all inclusive resorts and are always trying to make them better. Beaches Turks and Caicos spends $40,000. per day on food alone. They are constantly bringing in local chef experts from countries all over the world to make sure dishes are the best they can be.

6) Golf is included at many resorts

7) Butler suites. These are not as hard to sell as you think. Many people who travel want the best of the best. When you

upsell someone to one of these suites not only do you make more money but you will be surprised at how much more happy your client will be afterwards. The best way to retain a client is to give them a better experience than they expected when they first contacted you to go away. I have stayed in their butler suites. At first I thought I wouldn't want to use them much but that changed quick. A full breakfast in your room served by them, reserved chairs at the beach calling the butler with the cell phone provided. Many times our butler had our jacuzzi tub ready in the afternoon with bottle of champagne on ice. Anything you need is a phone call away.

8) Premium liquors everywhere you go on the resort.

9) The best spas in the industry.

Cancelled Tickets

CANCELLED TICKETS  

Due to so many fraudulent tickets in the airline industry we have to implement new consolidator booking rules. Do not book consolidators on your site or sirev unless you are going to contact the consolidator to ensure they will be ticketed. When booking on a consolidator's website you will see at time of booking what date or time the ticket is on hold until. Since all consolidators have been the victim of fraud none will issue tickets unless I authorize them. 

 

We have had agents book tickets on their own sites or sirev only to have them cancel within an hour. BE SURE YOU KNOW THE RULES BEFORE YOU BOOK. All the consolidators have some kind of agent incentive when you book with them directly. Whether it is a $10. gift card or $10. per passenger on a visa card. Huntington pays you $10. per booking for all bookings when called in. They are also open on saturdays and sundays. When you call it in you will know all details and it is highly recommended.

Viva Wyndham Azteca

Does anyone know of a couple of other resorts right close to Azteca in Playa?
Yes, to the south is its sister resort Viva Wyndham Maya & the Riu Playacar & on the north side of the Azteca is the Occidental Allegro Playacar .

Just back from Sandals fam trip. Wow, what truly beautiful resorts! Sandals Plantation was my favorite, absolutely fabulous.

Last week 9 of us went on a Sandals fam trip to Jamaica. We stayed at Sandals Montego Bay for 2 nights and Sandals Grand Riviera for 2 nights. It was alot of fun and we learned so much about their resorts. We also toured Sandals Royal Plantation their all butler suite hotel. The other hotels we seen were Sandals Carlyle, and the Royal Caribbean.

 

  I have been to all the Sandals and Beaches resorts. In the last year I have seen them all again minus Negril. Call me anytime if you have questions on their resorts. There is no hotel company giving back more to the agents. Free Sandals wrapped cars if you are interested. With any regular room booked for 5 days or more you receive 1/2 a free night. For any concierge booking you receive 2 free nights and 3 for a butler room.
