Visitor Visa’s



In the past two weeks, Fareconnect.com has had two cases where clients were denied boarding flights, as they did not have the proper Visa’s to enter the United States.  In both cases, the clients were leaving Canada heading to Europe via the United States.  Even though they are on the international side, they are still required to clear customs prior to boarding.  Two points to take away; always ask your clients if they have the proper passports / Visa’s to enter the country and tell them to confirm this prior to their departure.  The second point is that we are not experts, so always put the responsibility on the client.  Always assist them and help them but never claim that you know the answer.
In the two cases above, the two agents handled it correctly.  Although disappointed, the clients were not disgruntled at Fareconnect.com as they were made aware of the responsibility by the agents prior.

Important - Balance Due Date



We recently had an issue with an agent and the balance due date.  It is extremely important that you understand the consequences of missing a balance due date.   If a client puts a deposit down on a trip and they do not cancel before the balance due date, they are charged for the trip in full.  There are misconceptions to some that they just lose the deposit.  The fact is that they have now guaranteed the trip.  As an agent it is important that you inform your client at time of deposit and follow this up prior to the due date.  If you cancel a trip, ensure you receive a confirmation email from the client requesting cancellation and a email from the supplier confirming the cancellation.

Travel Visa's - What You Need To Do!

As you know, we as travel agents need to advise our clients on Visa requirements to enter countries.  It is also important to be aware that we are not experts nor should we ever imply that we are.  Fareconnect has registered with a reputable company that can handle all of your clients Visa requirents and you will receive a commission for your work.  With more than 50 years experience, CIBT and its subsidiaries VisaCentral and IVPSC, have become the largest and most well-established travel visa and passport company in the world.  This company comes highly rated from our Ensemble Managers/Owners Group.

-          Go on to the CIBT website www.ca.cibt.com

-          Enter your clients travel plans, NEED A VISA

-          When it asks, CIBT ACCOUNT: put in your number 10649 and hit SUBMIT

-          You will receive your clients personalized requirements as to where they are requesting a visa for

-          You will then be asked where you would like the documents shipped, we use FedEx and there is an additional charge for this – if you have or would like to use your own method of secure document transportation, please advise us, there is a $6.00 handling fee for processing

-          Send the documents along with their passport to our office **this is important**make sure the client has signed their passport and that it is valid for 6 months after their scheduled departure**

-          We receive the documents, review them and then take them personally to the consulate

-          When the visa is ready, we pick them up and send them to your or directly to your client

This process can also be done directly by your clients, you can either direct them to our website as above and give them your number.    Your clients will get your discounted rate of $85.00 per visa, (regular price is $129.00) and you will also still get the commission.  We pay our commissions quarterly.

Issuing of Consolidator Tickets



All consolidator tickets sold needs to be approved prior to ticketing.  For example if you purchased a ticket for your client through Huntington.  Huntington will email Fareconnect to approve the ticket.  Area owners are responsible to approve their area tickets while Head Office acts as a backup and approves all others.  As an Agent, it is important to realize that until it gets approved it is not ticketed.  If you send a quick email to your approver stating that you just booked a ticket on Huntington and it is a good ticket, it will save time.  Remember this is a human process, so mistakes will happen.  It is your responsibility to your client to ensure that it gets ticketed.  If the deadline is missed to ticket the transaction is invalid.  The price quoted/paid is no longer valid.

The reason for this company policy is to protect against fraudulent tickets.  Remember, you are responsible for tickets booked both through your website or by yourself.  This is a layer of protection for you.  Having personally paid Huntington $4000 for fraudulent tickets, I appreciate this double check.
